Dr Michael Garbee is our newest physician member. A Virginia native, he has been successfully practicing as a general Neurologist for the last several years in Georgia and Mississippi. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Richmond where he played rugby with the Richmond Area Training Side, a Master of Science degree from Georgia Southern University where he played intercollegiate lacrosse, and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the American University of the Caribbean. He completed a surgery internship at Albert Einstein University- Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. Initially beginning his Neurology residency at the famous Charity Hospital of New Orleans, he was present and working during the unfortunate and devastating Hurricane Katrina disaster which closed that hospital forever. He completed his Neurology training at The Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University and has been practicing general community Neurology since. He sees patients with every aspect of Neurological disorder but has special interest in movement disorders, sports neurology, seizures, migraines and neuromuscular/ musculoskeletal issues. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and is a twice deployed combat veteran of two foreign wars during his service in the US Army Reserves, most recently in Afghanistan. Dr Garbee still actively drills with the Army National Guard as a Brigade/ Battalion surgeon. A former pilot, his additional interests include scuba diving, surfing and music/ playing guitar as well as participating in numerous relief mission trips throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. He is a proud husband and father of six beautiful children – his self described “greatest accomplishment to date”.
